I was searching for a topic that i'd read earlier in the week, and I couldn't find it using the chow search engines, no surprise there, lol. But i then did my google search andfound the thread immediately. To my surprise, the message i received said "this topic has been removed" and nothing else. What would cause this to happen?

If you're asking why a thread would be removed, there are a great many reasons, most of them outlined in our Etiquette: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/367605

If you're asking why a thread would be available in Google, but not on our site, it's in the nature of the way Google works. They trawl through the site periodically and update their indexes, in between the time when we remove a thread and they revisit it, they'll think the page is still there, but when you click through, it won't be.
