Romantic Birthday Dinner Westside or Silverlake/Downtown

Looking for a spot that's dark, moody, and on the quiet side. I'm a pescetarian, my boyfriend will eat just about anything. I'd prefer to avoid spots with lots of offal, unusual pig parts (i.e. ears, heads) on the menu, if possible, but want a creative chef for entrees and pastry chef for dessert.
Any recommendations are way appreciated....

Not sure what your budget is... When we're going out for a romantic meal, Blair's on Glendale is lovely, but a little loud. We love Canele in Atwater Village just around the corner. It's cozy, and the food is lovely, fresh and unpretentious. Palate in Glendale is lovely -- fresh, local, sexy food. http://www.palatefoodwine.com/

If I had my choice, I would go to Palate and make an evening of it.

Another option is Church and State downtown -- French bistro -- not dark and moody, but very romantic. In that same vein, Anisette in Santa Monica could be great.

Have a wonderful night, and I hope you find what you're looking for!

Love both Anisette & Church & State, and DH & I had a "romantic" meal at C&S, but most find both of them very loud (tile floors & nothing to absorb any sound).

      Melisse is quiet. And romantic.
Sona is more mid city, but found it quiet, a little dark, uber pricey.
Both Wilshire & Whist's have dimly lit patios, that are really nice.
