Kassava Caribbean Restaurant in West Hollywood.
Haven't seen much posted about Kassava Caribean Restaurant in West Hollywood on 3rd. I have been there twice for lunch and once for dinner, and each time it has been excellent. French caribbean influenced (Martinique and Haiti), with other typical caribbean-influenced food as well. I have spent some time in that part of the world, and in my opinion the food is pretty authentic. Small place, not fancy with great music playing in the background. Very friendly waitstaff. I have had the fried accara fritters for an appetizer, the jerk chicken and the brown stew chicken, and accompanying guests have had the curried goat, coconut chicken and the vegetarian curry stew. The deserts (rum raisin ice cream, Haitian sweet potato bread and Haitian bread pudding) are also very good. The serving are very large and the prices are reasonable. They do not have a liquor license, but the "corkage" fee is $4.50, and there is a liquor store about 1/2 block away. This is another one of the little treasures that I hope survives the current economy. Certainly worth a visit.
