MSP: Spice

I just had lunch at Spice. A Thai restaurant in a strip mall in Burnsville. It is family run and the service was friendly and the food was delicious.

I had a beef noodle soup. It was like Pho, same rice noodles with various types of beef...strips, meat-balls, bean sprouts, but also different...more basil, peanuts, and floating bits of lemon grass and bits of peanut and some interesting hot spicy stuff. Overall, it was very enjoyable.

The menu has interesting looking salads and a bunch of the usual Minnesota Thai restaurant dishes.

If I am in Burnsville and I don't want to drive 30 miles to Bangkok Thai on University or Sen Yak Sen Lai on Central then Spice is a very good choice.

The restaurant is located on the south-side of County 42, a bit west of Judicial Road.

  1. It's in Savage and aside from presentation it's not really different from any other South Metro strip mall Thai restaurants IMHO. In fact, as far as living up to their name, they don't do so very well. Spicy they are not.

You're right, it's Savage. But it's right by the Welcome to Burnsville sign and I'm easily confused.

I talked to another patron who ordered Pad Thai and claimed it wasn't spicy enough.

The soup I had, at "hot" was definitely spicy. There were two spice levels above the one I requested and two below it. Maybe they're inconsistent? Maybe they saw you and said to themselves "the whiteboy can't handle spicy no matter what he says."
