LA Chowhound needs a DC Power Lunch

We have 1 day for a great power lunch near the mall. Best food, service and atmosphere. Cost no object. Recommendations appreciated.

'W' hotel, used to be Hotel Washington.

These other suggestions are good but Tosca is where you need to be for a power lunch in DC

I always see power lunchers at Central.

If you want to go the steak house route you can go to Charlie Palmer's Steakhouse. One of my favorites, Prime Rib, is a little farther off the Mall but delicious and old-school.

Tosca is by far the reigning power lunch restaurant in DC right now. No question about it.

Thanks for the reminder on this one, Pappy. Here's further evidence on Tosca, from a few weeks ago on the Post's front page:

Capital Grille is really something to see. If that's not power lunch, I'm not sure what is. Sure it's a chain steakhouse but so is The Palm and Morton's. That doesn't mean it's not where pols and other power lunchers in our town go to dine and enterain cause it is. Straight shot view of The Capitol Dome from the front door.

Definitely agree on Bourbon Steak although it's not near the mall. Closer to the mall, I agree with others' recommendations for Charlie Palmer Steak where all the bigshots on the Hill do power lunches.

                Central -- 10th and Pennsylvania
Charlie Palmer Steak -- Constitution and Louisiana

Both on the north side of the Mall.
