White Plains Casual but nice

I have plans with 2 other couples for dinner in the beginning of November in White Plains location. I'm looking for a restaurant that is not upscale and not a chain(no cheesecake, pf changs, , etc.) Indian is too specific , given I don't know these couples well.Although the Indian restaurants in WP would fit the bill as far as atmosphere and pricing. Any recs other than Indian?It must be WP, though.

My experience with Emma's is that it's too noisy for easy conversation. I don't understand the comment about Ernesto's being very expensive: I find them reasonable. Two other suggestions: Meson los Castellanos and Milonga.

have you tried Emma's since they installed the sound proofing material. it seems to be better but we haven't been there when the dining room is full.

I didn't know about the soundproofing project, but I've certainly been leery of going back there at anything approaching a busy time.

yes, the check can add up; la boca seems to be more expensive. the food at Sam's is fair at best but for what Yeshana is looking for, it might work. Emma's in the the side room would work; the Saturday night crowd seems to be older than during the week.
