Good Cheap Restaurant in the West Village for Dinner Tonight

I am looking for a good place to eat tonight in the West Village (specifically around the Christopher Street 1 train) that is easy on the wallet ($7-$15) but has good food. Any suggestions?

  1. Fedora Restaurant on West 4th Street (walking distance to No. 1 train) is a piece of village history that was featured a while back on Eater's "Who Goes There?" column. I was surprised that the restaurant I frequented as a starving college student was still alive and kicking.

The cuisine is not "gourmet" but it's very nicely prepared, simple classics. The crowd is a hoot -- village denizens displaying all degrees of eccentricity.

    1. Malatesta Trattoria...all pastas are under $15 and the food is great.
