Spanish
Looking for good Spanish cuisine in the moderate price range - went to the paella place on 14th - enjoyed it (well a tad salty - but did enjoy it) but can not remember it's name - any other Spanish restaurants you would recommend?

Sevilla. Hands down.

Lauren, I may've ordered badly, but I had a pretty awful paella at Sevilla, tonight (as well as a distinctly mediocre garlic soup made with a watery broth). The paella was overly salty, flavors had not been cooked into the rice, there was no paella crust and no saffron flavor. Many of the shrimp had not been deveined and the none of the shellfish was fresh. Really and truly bad.
I did enjoy the sangria, which is made in a style I like, though spiked with bottom-of-the-shelf brandy.
What do you recommend, here?

I recommend Alta.

La Nacional, is that the place you went to? Or did you mean Socarrat on West 19th?
I like Txikito, Casa Mono, Boqueria, Degustation, Alta, and Aldea (technically Portuguese, I know) but they are all very different and not sure how expensive you mean by "moderate" -- $40pp? $60pp? Including wine, tax, tip?

Socarrat - that's the name of the place - i liked it - might have suffered a little from a little over hyped reputation.

Sounds like you went to La Nacional. You could try the sister restaurant Socarrat. If you're interested in tapas, I really like Casa Mono.

I really enjoy Mercat and Boqueria. I also like Boqueria's brunch menu - very tasty! Such a fun place to sit at the bar, too.
