Dinner Suggestion -- walking distance to Sofitel Water Tower hotel

I will be in chicago for one night staying at the Sofitel Water Tower hotel. I'm looking for dinner recommendations walking distance from the hotel. Prefer fun, relaxed atmosphere but more importantly delicious food. Prefer entrees less than $20 each. Favorite cuisines include mediterranean, middle eastern, tapas, italian, comfort food...basically wide-ranging as long as it's memorable. If it's a unique Chicago experience even better.

    1. Ditka's is only about 50 yards from the Sofitel and is good; I recommend the pork chop. Morton's steakhouse is also within walking distance. Entrees wouldn't fit your budget, but they do a very nice happy hour menu in the bar area that might suffice.

        1. Try Quartino's on State at Erie(?). Good food, nice people, open kitchen.

            1. Pizano's is literally feets away from your hotel. The Goddess & Grocer too is an excellent deli.

              1. Curious if there are any Polish places in walking distance that anyone recommends?

                  1. re: avass

Polish places tend to be quite a distance from the high-rent downtown areas. The closest Polish place is Podhalanka, which is on Division Street near Ashland and Milwaukee and is practically across the street from the Division Street Blue Line stop. This is about 2 1/2 miles from Sofitel Water Tower through some areas that are not nice walking territory.

There is an Armenian restaurant within walking distance and your budget that you might want to consider: Sayat Nova. Search will turn up a fair number of references.

I 2nd Sayat Nova. They have live music certain nights too, always a lot of fun.

3rd that recommendation - have visited a couple times each year for at least 25 years. Excellent food, good service. New management recently, maybe family (?), seems to have same pride in the restaurant that the previous crew had. Five Stars from us.

                        2. Sayat Nova is a good bet; Cafe Iberico is also a solid tapas option not too far from there (LaSalle & Superior).
