Richmond: Sweet Tooth Avenue - Apple pie and fresh-picked blackberry cobbler

These pies and cobblers are sold at the Friday Richmond Farmers Market. Sweet Tooth is at the same booth as King of Wings. The individual pies are $3 and special orders are taken for larger pies and cobblers ($10).

I asked if the blackberries were canned or fresh and was told by Earl that he picked them himself. It was good with lots of whole blackberries. The cobbler part is broken up shortening-based pie crust that comes in a separate bag so it doesn't get soggy on top.

I liked this well enough that I went back for an apple pie to take home. Both are spiced with some cloves and I sort of detest cloves. Yet cloves and blackberries was an interesting combo and he is not heavy-handed with them It is balanced by the other spices.

They also have peach cobblers and sweet potato pie.

I was told that occasionally he sells near the Social Security office. If you are at the farmers market, I recommend giving them a try. They have a nice, nothing fancy home made taste.
