Rock and Roll Restaurant

I need a Rock and Roll themed restaurant that isn't the Hard Rock cafe. Three sets of parent with three 12 year old boys on a birthday. Any ideas?

It's not really a "rock'n'roll-themed" restaurant, but all the rockers I know hang out at Three of Cups. Granted they usually hang out downstairs in the lounge (and teenage boys won't be allowed in) but the restaurant itself has sort of a rock'n'roll vibe going on with good music playing. Their pizzas are pretty decent too, especially that tartufo one.

Go to Grand Sichuan, or any other place on Saint Mark's, and take the boys for a stroll to shop for all kinds of rock and roll merchandise - my foreign nieces and nephews are pretty thrilled by the cheap t-shirts, jewelry, sunglasses, etc. on that block.

This is probably a stretch but take them to a eat at Hill Country BBQ where they have good bands play all the time, I'm not sure how they feel about kids downstairs or if they have early shows but I would look into it....pbjlovers idea was pretty good to...

the only other place that comes to mind is Vynl. i've never been there so i can't vouch for the food, but it may be worth a look. they have two locations, and if it matters, former Top Chef contestant Dave Martin is now the chef at the Chelsea one.

the only connection to "rock and roll" at Vynl are the old LPs on the walls.

BTW the eastside place has closed...the one on 2nd Ave / 78th St.

i know it's a stretch, but it's the only option besides Hard Rock. and yes, i also know the East side location has closed, which is why i didn't link to it.

              Thats a tough one.
Why not take the boys to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Museum Annex down in Soho and then go for Chinese food in Chinatown...dim sum.
