Anyone been to Huiyona yet?
One of the Urban Eats locations in Seattle is Huiyona, at the north end of Capitol Hill. Their regular menu looks Filipino. Was trying to decide if I should try their happy hour, or go out for an Urban Eats dinner. Thoughts?
First a disclaimer – I haven’t been to Huiyona yet. Based on what I know from reading about the place, I’d say it is worth a try. It is for sure on my list of new places to try. The owners are Mark and Rachel Apuyan and the chef, Randy Montoya, was formerly chef de cuisine at Tracht’s in Long Beach, California. The menu, with the exception of lumpia, doesn’t look Filipino to me. (I lived for three years in the Philippines.) I would characterize the menu as “pan-Asian” or maybe “pan-Asian-nouveau.” Co-owner Rachel Apuyan describes it as a “global menu where each dish will have a little Asian influence.” Most of the reviews I’ve read on other food website have been very positive. If you go, please let us know what you think.
Yes! I have been to Huiyona and it is definitely worth a try! I've been there for dinner twice and was extremely pleased both times. Since then, I've been meaning to do a happy hour there, and was googling the name to make sure I had their hours/days correct - and came across your post. Now I've discovered chowhound and am loving it:) thx! Btw, I would say the food is New American, with Pan Asian flavors.
