Soba Lounge - Great New Items on the Menu

Well, well, well....someone took a trip to Momofuku! I was pleasantly surprised to find a whole slew of new dishes as Soba a couple of weekends ago. As I went through the menu, my interest was piqued at some of the new dishes. Pork Belly and Steam Bun appetizers? Roast Chicken Ramen bowl with fried egg...oh and the best part! Homemade spicy pickles. This was the best meal I have had in a long time at Soba. (not that the prior meals were bad at all) The food was prepared beautifully. The waitstaff described each dish so well. I have always enjoyed Soba and was my socks were knocked off at the last go around. My husband and I just moved back to Pittsburgh after a short stint away. We chose Soba as our first meal after moving in. It was an amazing choice!

My friends want to try out Soba as they live close by. Did you try the ramen? Was it good? I'm not a fan of fusion food (as I'm Chinese and prefer authentic flavors). If you have any recommendations of what to try, I'd appreciate it. I'm tempted to order the ramen and get a bunch of sides of veggies - bok choy & green beans with chilis and kim chi sounds good (although it almost pains me to pay for kim chi when it's usually free).

Ericandblueboy - sorry for the delayed response. I see you already came and went. I loved the ramen...sorry yours was dry. I thought the flavors married well and the fried egg made it decadent. Give Eleven a try - it is worth it. If you order off the tavern menu, try the crazy eleven burger...you'll need a nap afterwards.

Welcome back! I hadn't seen you on the board for a while. Thanks for the heads up on Soba as that is probably my favorite restaurant in the Burgh, and its nice to hear that they have updated their menu.

Thank you. I was out of the 'burgh for 4 months but have happily settled in Larryville for the next year until my house is built in Deutschtown next year. Tamari is a walk away and I couldn't be more pleased!
