Long Island breakfast

Jambalaya Oct 5, 2009 07:05 PM

I will be visiting Long Island this weekend Oct 10 - 12 and looking for a place to have a good breakfast on Monday. I'm staying at the Hilton Garden Inn Melville on Round Swamp Rd. in Plainview. Not familiar with the area but I will Mapquest any addresses you pass on or can pull up websites. I will have my own transport. Not looking for anything specific other than good quality food from a non chain place. A good local diner or anyplace that has some special dish would be interesting. I am a fairly adventurous eater, so within reason almost anything is up for consideration.

Not too far although not right there, Maureen's Kitchen in Smithtown. Check it out!

Maureen's is a great place, but hardly next door--about a half-hour drive from the Hilton. Thomas's Ham and Eggery in Carle Place is a little closer. But right in the neighborhood? I don't know of any place that really stands out.

Maureens is definitely worth the trip. Toast is good as well. One other I would suggest is Thomas's ham and eggery on old country road in carle place.

Plainview diner is close and good. They have all the regular suspects and good coffee. Sometime we drive all the way from Bayside just for the breakfast.

Toast in Huntington village has very nice variations on eggs benedict.

I also like Sweet Mama's in Northport, but that may be too far.
