Fun/funky bar near 13th and Spruce?

I know about Dirty Franks, so anywhere else? Prefer a real bar, not a restaurant with a bar. It's been a long time since I lived down there and I have a bunch of friends who just moved into the area around DFs. But going to DFs gets boring after a bit.

If you don't mind the smoke, send them to the Locust Bar at 10th and Locust. I prefer it to DF.

Not sure what you mean by 'funky', but Tria is only a block away at 12th and spruce and they have a good beer and wine selection there. for more of a dive bar feel, I will second barryg with his bob and barbara's recommendation, or tritone.

Fergies, a bar on Sansom, is usually my go-to bar.
I also like bump quite a bit; I guess that's straddling the bar/restaurant line. more people eating than at the bar, but it sure feels more like a bar.
i also like locust bar, for that dive-bar feel.

Westbury has been recently renovated and is now cleaner, better lit, and has a wide variety of very good beers. The service has always been friendly, and it's a dependable place to get a beer and actually hear your friends.

Varga Bar (10th & Spruce) is aiight, they have a good beer list. They do serve dinner but I'd classify it more as a bar than restaurant.

Time (Sansom between 13th & Juniper) has a bit of a douchey reputation, which is not entirely undeserved, but the one side of the bar has a good beer list and the other side has live music with no cover. I'm not sure if the music is weekends only or during the week, too, but I've some pretty good jazz here.

And I hope you know about Bob & Barbara's on South between 15th & 16th.

Go to Woody's on 13th and Locust. Definitely NOT boring.

Woody's is a great place but it is a gay bar, so if you're bringing your mom, you might have some explaining to do. LOL.
