Good pick for Philly Neighborhood Food Week?

stockmo Oct 5, 2009 03:55 PM

I am relatively new to Philadelphia and wanted to take advantage of the upcoming Philadelphia Neighborhood Food Week while a friend is in town.
I wanted to know what's the best bet - if any on the list- to impress our former Brooklyn neighbor who will be in town for the weekend?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

By best bet, do you mean a neighborhood or a particular restaurant? If it's the former, East Passyunk, followed closely by NoLibs. The participating restaurants in the other neighborhoods on the website are, for the most part, not good. If you're looking for a rec for a particular place that's participating, I'd say Sonata or Bar Ferdinand in NoLibs, Le Virtu or Fond on E Passyunk.

Perfect - I am looking for restaurant rec's specifically and will travel to any of the neighborhoods. Thanks!

I think East Passyunk is a good bet. Lots of very good choices there. My personal choice would be Paradiso.

It looks like that's definitely the neighborhood where we'll heading now- thanks!

Yeah everything on E Passyunk looks good, except for Marra's. Their pizza is awesome but the rest of the menu is... not.

After dinner, maybe check out the POPE for beers; definitely a Brooklynite friendly scene in there.

          In East Passyunk:
Tre Scalini, Paradiso, and LeVirtu are all really good.
In Northern Liberties, we are fans of Bar Ferdinand.

Look over the menus and see if you like the choices.
