gift idea: which restaurant?

JonnyAis Oct 5, 2009 06:49 AM

Hi Austin Hounds,

I'm looking to buy a gift certificate at a nice restaurant as a thank you for a friend of mine; I'm applying to school and he was incredibly helpful proofing and helping me revise my essays. He and his girlfriend are law students at UT and live near campus so somewhere close by would be preferable. Looking for a place where $100-$150 would be enough to cover dinner for two and a bottle of wine. What would you suggest? Thanks for your help.

Agree. Chez Nous. Won't make you have to eat Ramon Noodles forever, but they'd still have a lovely time out. $100 would work out fine. My only complaint with Chez Nous would be that downtown parking/crowding has gotten beyond bad.

Can anyone remember the name of that cute little Italian restaurant just off campus that's a little white house with the really cool patio? That might be the ticket.

      I'd vote for Parkside.

Eastside Cafe is lovely, very close to the law school, and your friends could have a full meal + wine for under $150.

thanks all, these suggestions all looked great. I ended up going with Eastside because it let me buy the gift certificate online through paypal without having to call the restaurant, which was nice. thanks again for your help.
