My wife & I went here last week and thought it very good. Although it's hatted it doesn't seem to get the attention of other restaurants on a similar level.

The menu is refreshingly limited with invention in each dish. Not a terrine in sight. We had the degustation and really enjoyed the shared plates, such as veal tongue salad with pickled vegetables.

other stand out dishes were tuna sashimi with pea & marjoram soup, the chesse course and a great chocolate parfait.

Service was a treat despite a hen party upstairs....and it is a tiny restaurant only seating about 30 people, so not a place you can just turn up to.

worth checking out.

I need to give it another go, we had a great meal there four or five years ago when it had just opened and it is on the list for a return visit. It is good to hear it is still good. When I first moved to Sydney the Four in Hand was my local, thankfully when they renovated and put in the restaurant they didn't ruin it.

Just around the corner is another good eating pub, The Bellevue. The dining room here was taken over by Damian Pignolet (Bistro Moncur) and it does very good pub food. IMO more of a Aussie pub to Bistro Moncurs French bistro. Moncur is also worth trying, very solid, but not fashionable with the foodies as it has been around for ever.

The Bellevue - will put that on the list. I'm currently stuck in the culinary wasteland that is Turramurra, so have to plan my nights out ahead. a bit of a nuisance.

but Sydney International Food Festival provides an ideal excuse....
