After that I plan on attending the FCI in NY for baking and pastry arts....i want this mixer to be with me starting with the text book and ending 20+ years from now.... Deciding between the KA Professional 600 6qt or the KA Pro Line 6 qt -- i know theyre pretty much the same except that one has a 6 wire whisk, the other has an 11 wire whisk.... havent heard much about the Pro Line in the forums but have read endless amounts of good things about the Prof 600. Just posting to make sure for myself which one is better (or if theres really no difference)....thanks!!!! oh and i do plan to make some bread out of this- not my main thing but im learning and i need my mixer to be able to handle it! Sun Oct 04 19:47:49 -0700 2009 1113949 nfgforever9_9 1 5150319 I am looking at Kitchen Aid too, not the Pro 600 but the Pro 5 which Amazon has for 242$ shipped right now (metallic chrome color, others are more). Searching through old reviews is a bit tricky,it seems they had issues with plastic gears but the current spec says it's all metal. Their model line up is quite confusing, I would actually call the FCI and see what they recommend. I took an amateur cooking class there and the Chef was recommending few things when pushed (All clad pots, bowery street restaurant supply pants, cheap mandoline over expensive).
