Tried Hu Tieu Mi Cafe, the newest restaurant in Eden right next to Tay Do. It's a Southern Vietnamese place and all the menu isnt available yet. For now, it's pretty much just soup.

I had the egg noodle soup with roast quail and it was pretty money. Chinese-influenced, chockfull of savory noodles, garlic chives, bok choy, and nicely roasted hunks of boney quail. It came with a soy-oyster sauce conconction that was salty-sweet and good mixed in small doses with the sweetish broth. I've not had the dish before so I have nothing to compare it against.

The place was mobbed and everyone was slurping egg noodles-- only a few seemed to be eating rice noodles. Most people also seemed to be getting a roast pork, ground pork, shrimp combo of sorts.

Worth seeking out and well-priced. Cash only.

Can't say that I've had many Chinese egg noodle soups. The dish merely tasted faintly Chinese to me. The egg noodles were very thin and delicate- really, really good and comforting. I believe it was $6.75 for a decent sized bowl (not the huge portions you sometimes get in Asian restaurants when you order soup-- this is enough for just one).

There is a palpable buzz in the Vietnamese community about this place. I believe it is the first Vietnamese spot in the Eden Center to specialize in Southern Vietnamese soups, though I may be mistaken.

I just 'discovered' this place and had to search the board to see if anyone else had been. I got the rice noodle soup, #7 which is what the place is named for, I believe, with just about everything. It had minced pork, shrimp in rice cake, regular shrimp, quail egg, liver, beef... And a fairly flavorful but not overpowering soup base. I hotted it up a bit with the chili jar and really enjoyed it. The chef may have toned it down for the non-vietnamese guy. It could have used something more, maybe I should have tried a splash of nuoc mam.
All in all, very good value at $6.95, and the spring/ garden rolls and starter bowl of soups were priced right at $2.25.
Place was jamming at 2 pm, so it looks to be a success. Not as good as Present, but that is a pretty high standard.
