One night in NYC FiDi.

When I travel by myself I like eating at the bar. Thinking of Luma. Any other spots that are good solo options?

Totally agree with a213b about SHO Shaun Hergatt. I don't think there is bar dining, but don't let that stop you. We had dinner there this past week, and Chef Hergatt's very personal Asian-influenced style of cuisine is sensational! Service could not have been more cordial or attentive, and the ambiance is wonderful. Thanks for the SHO recommendation. I might be staying another night and was wondering if there's something around Washington square that would be good for one.

RGR, I had lunch at the bar. Not sure if they serve dinner at the bar.

Definitely SHO Shaun. Without a doubt; it's a great meal.

Supposedly, the best restaurant in the FiDi is the recently opened SHO Shaun Hergatt. At this point it is still flying under the radar, partly because of location (FiDi isn't known for decent restaurants) and partly because the chef is relatively unknown in NYC. It is certainly an ambitious restaurant, serving high-end Asian-inflected French cuisine and represents great value for fine dining (three course prix fixe is $69). I haven't been but I've heard nothing but glowing reports. Try searching the board for them.
