My other half brought home a pair of pumpkin whoopie pies the other day, more out of curiosity than anything. Good LORD these were tasty! Huge (one is definitely enough for 2 to share as a hefty dessert), perfectly spiced pumpkin cakes with a cream cheese filling. Decadent, for sure, but REALLY, really good. Agreed all around the table tonight to be an excellent pairing with Carmes de Rieussec Sauternes 2006, the el cheapo ($16/375ml) bottling from the famed Rieussec. Tried Carmes de Rieussec at the Blanchard's West Roxbury grand tasting -- another coming in JP on November 4.
