The first time I had Petsi's Banana Cream pie it was revelatory. I've had it there since and it sort of fell flat... crust not as good, pastry cream not as delicate, whip cream top not as beautifully piped. But I had it again about 6 months ago and it was once again divine. I guess my warning is that it can be hit (a BIG hit) or miss (still good but not a big deal).

FYI I believe you have to pre-order it 48hrs ahead of time.

The version I had didn't have whipped cream - it had meringue.

Costco's is the best pie at that price point, or at any price point for that matter. Their multi-layer chocolate cake is to die for as well.

I had the banana cream pie at Tupelo's last week (I believe it was from Petsi Pies) and it was absolutely bonkers good. Fresh tasting, delicious merengue, just awesome.

It was either BJs or Costcos where I got one of the best ones I've ever had. Petsi's Pies in Somerville is very good too.
