Julian in KC
Anyone been to Celina Tio's new place, Julian, in Brookside yet? Would love to hear about it.

A friend and I sat outside the other night and had some wine and appetizers so I can't comment too much on the food. The service was great - server was very helpful, knowledgeable, and attentive. We had an order of the Bavarian Pretzels w/mustard - a fun appetizer though the mustard wasn't very mustardy, more pastey and not very pungent as I would expect mustard to be. But we happily ate all of it. We also tried the Popcorn Sweatbreads w/an aioli type dipping sauce. Pretty yummy. Things were winding down while we were there but it seemed fairly busy for a Weds night. Celina stopped by to see how everything was. Prices didn't seem to be bad. Can't wait to go back and try some of the entrees. I'm glad it's back up and running in very capable hands.

To clarify - is this where Joe D's was?
If so - it was jam packed when I drove by tonight. So glad! Can't wait to try

Thanks. I was lame and didn't look thoroughly. Some people might find the portions slightly anemic, but I found them perfect. It allows you to try lots of stuff w/out getting crazy full or having to schlep togos around. The prices are adjusted downward and of course the quality was excellent. Anyone else?

We tried to go there for lunch, not realizing they don't serve lunch. It was kind of awkward, because Celina let us in and waited a couple of minutes, and then told us they would start serving dinner at 5. Her kids were running around and there were a couple of other people in there too, so it wasn't immediately clear that they weren't open for lunch. She definitely seemed frazzled! We'll be sure to try again though.

We were going to go there for lunch today, too. However, I wasn't sure they were open for lunch AND didn't feel like hauling myself to Brookside either. It's on the "list" for our next night out - probably not until 2010. Unless I can talk the husband into a date night for the Holidays.

Ate there again the other night. It was excellent the second time as well. The service is not as sharp as I would like, but not terrible either.
