Tried the new MaGerks (Bent Elbo) For Lunch.

Went for lunch to the new place MaGerks that's in the renovated old Bent Elbo space in Ft Washington.

While I'll probably give it another chance, I thought the food was very average for the price. I didn't go with high expectations but I think it's priced too high for a frequent lunch spot for us. There were 3 of us, we each had a basic sandwich and a soup (they have only one size for their soups) and there were 2 soda's and a water and the bill with tip was $19/each which I think is a lot. The place is very loud as well. There's a lot of seating but I don't know how it's going to work as I think the place is way underparked.

I'll wish them luck but unless they do something special at night with the bar trade, they may have a rough go of it.

Just an update. Went back to Magerks for lunch for another try and my impressions are still pretty much the same. I tried the tomato soup and a pizza steak. The bill with a 20% tip was $18. Somewhat high IMO for the food. The steak in the cheesesteak seemed to be a decent quality but the whole sandwich together was average as the sauce didn't hit me. The tomato soup was just plain bad. They do an onion soup presentation with melted cheese in a crock with croutons with the tomato soup and once you get past the melted cheese and croutons you have a lame, watery tomato soup with tasteless chunks of tomato.

Drove past on wed night around nineish and the joint was packed. Not sure if I could have parked if I had pulled in. So looks like they do a nice business at night too. After the reviews I do want to try it now.

Wed night was the night before Thanksgiving. I know that when I was younger, everyone from high school would meet up at Bent Elbo for a mini reunion, so I am not sure if it being packed was impacted by the holiday tradition.

Yeah it is not well known that Thanksgiving Eve is one of the biggest bar nights of the year. Movie theaters tend to get mobbed on normally quiet mondays and tuesdays at the beginning of the winter break. This was the wednesday after the big bird day though. Nice holiday tradition though. :)

We went the other night.. it didnt seem very expensive... but I wasn't really looking at the prices.. but the soft pretzel with the crab dip was insanely yummy! I had the tender tails and they were cooked perfectly. Everyone I was with liked what they ordered as well. If you are looking for a good hangout with some fun, good food, I would try it! We're definitely going back again...

I just got back from lunch and will definitely give the place another shot.

I had the ham and cheese on a pretzel roll and the person I was with had the seafood club. Both were very tasty. Total bill was $25.

You could do the same at Panera's Bread for half that! Thanks for the red flag.
