Anything chow-worthy between Penn Station and 9th/42nd?

I'm meeting someone at Penn Station and heading to a theater on 9th and 42nd this evening. Is there anyplace chow-worthy where we could grab a decent dinner on the way. Any cuisine is fine.

Ended up at Jing on 47th and 9th. Decent pan-Asian, but nothing to write home (or on Chowhound) about.

West Bank Cafe on 42nd and 9th - good contemporary American cuisine, nice ambience and service, reasonable prices, good wine btg selection.

on 38th closer to 8th, there's Japanese curry at Go Go curry. Absolutely fatty and tasty, and inexpensive. They have some seats but it's not a formal place by any means.

Agree with Il Punto or Esca for Italian and Go Go Curry if you want something very casual and unique.

If you're willing to go a few blocks extra to the North, Pam Real has good Thai food on 49th and 9th.

Or, for something a little more upscale / more expensive, there's Esca on 43rd and 9th

The only place that comes to mind is Uncle Jack's Steakhouse.I believe it's 35th and 9th.
