Nice bar between Yonge / Eglinton and Yonge/Bloor

I'm looking for a bar where I can organize a small high school reunion (by small I mean < 8). The only bars that I know of, and like, between Yonge/Eg and Yonge/Bloor (and around it) are Fionn McCools, Duke of Kent, and Duke of York.

Any other suggestions? Somewhere laid back where we can sit down and talk.

  1. You might want to try the second floor of the Rebel House. Good vibe, laid back and decent pub grub.

I used to love the Rebel house, great food and great local beers, but they have some pretty draconian rules when it comes to reservations and drop ins. If you want a table you MUST eat dinner if you arrive anytime before nine. Otherwise "You are welcome to wait at the bar." which would be great but there is never space. We have been a couple of times and given up and gone somewhere else in the area because we didn't want to wait outside until the bar opens up even when there are empty tables.

      A for food
      A for drinks
      D for service.

    2. Thanks. Any other suggestions?

Just north of Rebel House is The Monk's Table (formerly Abbott on the Hill).

Can't go wrong with either two places.

      2. The Rebel House is a nice place, but if they're busy, you won't get a table for eight unless you're eating. They give priority to diners. What about downstairs at Wylie's, or upstairs at Cam's place? You might get more space to yourselves.

        1. The Pilot on Cumberland just west of Yonge might work- that's where my mini high school reunion took place a few weeks ago.

The Pilot is nice for that sort of feeling. If you went to Jarvis, call Al and ask him to set aside a section. I think the Flight Deck is still open, and has some heating.
