Apple Picking in Middlesex/Monmouth

njchowgal Sep 29, 2009 08:19 PM

I would like to hear recommendations for apple picking in Middlesex and Monmouth counties. Last year, we went to a farm in Freehold, but it was late in the season so selection was limited. The availability of prepared foods and farm-made apple cider is a plus. Thanks in advance!

NJCHOWGAL: We went to Eastmont Orchards last week (have been going there since the late 80's or early 90's...) The apples were bountiful! First time in 2-3 years they were this full -- and big!! call ahead because one year we went and they were closed :/ (rain). www.eastmontorchards.com ps - another pie was made last night, delish!

I third Eastmont. And they are a short drive from Delicious Orchards to get the prepared food and cider that you mentioned. Although, they may have cider there, not sure. There are one or two grease trucks (for lack of a better term) around but I don't know what they sell.

Was the farm in Freehold Battleview? That's where my family goes every year. Have always found a good selection and quality. This year will probably check out Eastmont based on the other posts.
