Wild Mushrooms in Calgary

Where can I find fresh wild mushrooms in Calgary? I've seen bulk dried Porcinis at Lina's and lots of dried Chanterelles, but I'd really like to use some fresh Chanterelle's in some ravioli while they're in season.

  1. I got fresh chanterelles at Blush Lane at the Calgary Farmers' Market last year.

If you don't want to wait until the weekend when the market opens...or if you don't wish to battle the market crowds. ..Blush has another location out west in Aspenwoods. I think it's around 17 Ave and 85 St.

    2. Bite in Inglewood has fresh chanterelles at the moment. Might not hurt to call ahead though, just to make sure.

      1. I find that DJ's Market in the south seems to get all sorts of interesting wild mushrooms but they only have what is in season.

Excellent. I'll try the SE locations tomorrow.

        2. I too am still looking for fresh mushrooms! Any new info?

Saw them at Mercato last Saturday. Pricy but looking good.

Mercato has some very nice looking fresh morels and porcini mushrooms, for $10.00/100g. Pricey. I picked up about 800g of the morels, and they were very good quality. But the price makes me want to join a local foraging club, if one exists.....

$80 for less then 2lbs! Too rich for me.

I meant 80 grams!!! Not 800!! It was just enough for a nice pasta with Egg and Pancetta for two.

DJ's market had some incredible morels (fresh large ones from BC) last week. They might still have some if they are not sold out.

            3. Costco gets in large pkgs of fresh Chantrelles every fall for a very reasonable price.
