Dim Sum in NE Ohio?

I am crazy craving dim sum, but in no mood to spend a day cooking. Anyplace I can get it within an hour or so of Cleveland?

  1. Anna - Cleveland's Asiatown offers several options for Dim Sum. www.clevelandasiatown.com.

My personal favorite at the moment is Wonton Gourmet. However, the menu is limited and there are no carts. If you love turnip cake, though, you must get to Wonton.

My second favorite is Li Wah - our last visit (February 2009) was excellent. Bo Loong is third on my list, though some prefer it to Li Wah - I feel it is a grungier experience, but I haven't been there in several years.

Finally, there is Tom's Seafood, which I have not tried. They have an all you can eat dim sum on the weekends, and some folks have said very good things about it, some less enthusiastic.

Let us know where you try!

What dim sum items does Wonton have besides the turnip cake? They have some dumplings, I guess. Their chive dumplings were bland and greasy on a recent visit.

Li Wah ad Bo Loong are both a gamble. I remember being pleased and disappointed, respectively, on my most recent visits. Pleased, in this case, means "good" but not "excellent." Of course, a prior visit to Li Wah was disappointing.

Wonton Gourmet has several varieties of dumplings, steamed and fried, Soy milk drinks, and small plates in addition to the turnip cake, including tripe, rice rolls in several varieties, and noodle and rice dishes that are often served as part of dim sum. They also make wonderful Chinese cruellers (with or without rice roll) available only until the early afternoon. And 7 varieties of Congee (jook) and roast pork and duck.
