Places Bugs

rworange Sep 29, 2009 01:13 PM

I'm sure there will be more, but there is no way to add a place, including when trying to link in a thread. I have a new restaurant that isn't in the database.

You can add a new place from the link here: http://search.chow.com/search?query=a...

We are in the process of making that link more accessible, including from 'link to a place'.

Thanks. I think I added it. However, edit hangs

Earlier I saw Slanted Door had duplicate records
      http://search.chow.com/search?query=S...

I tried to add the word 'duplicate' to one record. It just hung.

The hourglass is displayed. I went to lunch and came back and it still was waiting to update.

I added a record for Los Mexicanos in Richmond but I can't edit it. to add phone, hours, etc. It just hangs like the Slanted Door record.

Hurrah--- it is fixed for me --- Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Nice toggle on the closed link. However, I'm still not seeing the 'mark as duplicate link'.

This page doesn't work for me. On Oct. 2 I asked for edit access:

        http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/6558...

But I still don't seem to be able to edit ... is it because I'm not yet edit-enabled?

OK, on the edit access thread I was tipped off that I had to log off and on again. That gave me edit authority, but I still have to figure out how to add new entries.

To add a place until the interface is corected use this
            http://search.chow.com/search?query=a...

At they bottom you will see a link to add a restaurant.

Clicking on that will give you a pop up window where you can put the restaurant name and address. Sometimes you need to scroll up to get to that window. No matter how many times I've done this, I usually forget to scroll up to that window.

This may be slightly OT, but Link To A Place seems to be DISABLED in certain boards.
Unfortunately, This is one of them.

I can't demonstrate or test a possible bug in LTAP (or any arbitrary feature) anywhere except a regular board. HOW ARE WE SUPPOSED TO DO THIS?

IMO we need a TEST (sandbox) board, especially in view of all of the bugs/features seen in these 'upgrades'. That can't be too hard, can it?

You can only link to places in the geographic region assigned to the board. So you cannot link a SF restaurant on a NY board.

It would be nice to have soe sort of dummy region for examples.. One way to do this is put a dummy post on a regional board and then ask the mods to delete it later.

I'd like to have some ability to link to chain restaurant headquarters on the Chains board. Sometimes I want to get a website quickly and it would benice ot to have to go to Google to look it up every time.
