I'm a terrible cook. Love to eat, but hate to cook! So I thought I'd ask you guys about meyer lemons. I've been hearing a lot about them on Food Network (Iron Chef!!)... but I've never tried one.
So my question: What is a Meyer Lemon and where can I get one?

My husband usually picks them up at Loblaws.

You can buy them at Fiesta Farms in season (winter).

The Meyer lemons that I have seen here have been so unripe as to be bad as lemons , let alone as Meyers. Don't spoil it ; like real bad sex the first time.

You can also pick them up at SLM.

Meyer lemons are slightly sweeter and less acidic than other lemons. Their skins are softer and slightly more orange in colour as well.

Meyers have been used in cuisine for a long time in California. All of a sudden they've become a trend here (and other NA cities) again. OK. Now its black garlic, so we'll be seeing that all over menus here I guess.

If you are going to cook with it, In a pinch you can just substitute equal parts lemon juice and mandarin juice (that's all a Meyer lemon is - a cross between a lemon and a mandarin).

Yes? Hi! We found them at the loblaws. They came in the bag but sometimes we find that they dont make as good as the taste as a regular lemon.

They also have the Meyers Limes. But they are also not as good as the normal lines. I think you should make the taste test before you make the changes for the recipes.

Meyer Lemons have been available for a few weeks at the three fruit stores near Logan and Danforth. Fruitland has nice big, juicy ones at 8 for $2. They aren't labelled Meyer Lemons, but " Lemons made soft" ?? !

I have bought them recently at Whole Foods (Hazleton location), and Dave Young (Eglinton Ave. W.) where they were labelled 'California lemons'. They are worth searching for.
