I thought I'd try this version of this question again. Looking for an inexpensive dinner:

Not too noisy (person is hard of hearing)
A real restaurant, not a diner
Not a steak place (person doesn't eat beef - or pork for that matter)
Scottsdale-ish area, at least, east of 20th Street, preferably south of Shea
Italian, Greek, American, French would be best.

Any new ideas?

Pita Jungle in Arcadia would meet most of your requirements, except, perhaps, the noise factor. I've only been to the Arcadia location once and that was at an "off" time (around 3pm) so it wasn't busy. I know the Chandler location can get very loud, whereas the Mesa location doesn't seem as loud when it's very busy. Very affordable prices though. It's a very nicely decorated (not diner-ish at all) full service restaurant. They serve Mediterranean style food, mostly chicken, fish or vegetarian. You can look at their menu online if you google Pita Jungle.

Pita Jungle is *very* noisy during busy times, which is most of the time.

Can I suggest you be a bit more specific in terms of geography? You mention Scottsdale south of Shea, but also 20th St., which is 30-something blocks west of the Scottsdale/PHX border. Your requested area is at least 50 square miles, so it's hard to focus on recommending a specific restaurant.

How about naming a major intersection near your starting spot? That might assist others in focusing on some good recommendations. Thanks!

Good idea. The starting point would be, say, Fashion Square, i.e. Scottsdale and Camelback. I just mean I don't want to be WAY north. Last time we ended up at one of the worst Italian places I've ever been to in my life, but I can't remember the name.

I'd go with Petite Maison, for French. Very close to Fashion Square, small and unlikely to get terribly loud, and very reasonably priced for the food and service (which are both excellent).
