Can someone recommend their favorite Turkish cookbook. One that can be purchased in the US or online. I'd like a book that can help me recreate many of the wonderful dishes I ate in Istanbul last week.

Hi to all 'Hounds!
A friend and I are currently in Istanbul and having a great time eating our way through the city! We too have been looking for a Turkish cookbook that might compare to Madhur Jaffrey's take on Indian cooking. PLEASE help us if you can!

An aside regarding great food, if you haven't already tried Hambi's it is a great place with a fantastic view (3rd floor is the very best).
Thanks for any help you could give,

North American-based Turkish friends recommend Alya Algar's *Classical Turkish Cooking: Traditional Turkish Food for the American Kitchen*. The hardback was published in 1991 by HarperCollins, the softcover (MSRP US$17/C$21.50) in 1999 by HarperPerennial. The few dishes I've tried from it have been delicious.
