Wanted - Butcher selling organic, hormone free, free run/cage free, grass fed beef and chicken

TOchowgal Sep 28, 2009 06:46 AM

Trying to find a butcher in the Toronto area (preferably close to a subway) that sells organic, hormone free, free range, grass fed beef and chicken. I am trying to cut down on my "regular" meat consumption but still prefer to eat meat a few times a week vs everyday. Any suggestions?

Anything between Kipling and High Park stations work for BUT I am willing to St. Lawrence market if needed.

How about Beretta Organic Farms? Just visited their website and they seem to be good.

Beretta is great but they don't have a store close to a subway station. However, most of the health food stores sell their product.
You can also order online (which I prefer) as that the stores don't carry a large selection.

Organic Abundance on Bloor @ Royal Yorks sells products from Beretta. They used to get the shipment on Wednesday (if you want fresh chicken). Check and see if you can pre-order and have them put it aside for you.

Will check out Organic Abundance as it is closer to me than Butcher by Nature.

They also carry Baretta products at Whole Foods and at Witteveen Meats at the SLM.

Can anyone recommend a butcher that sells grass fed beef north of the downtown core?

Try the Healthy Butcher at Avenue and Eglinton.
