Aqui Es Texcoco expanding (San Diego)

Went down for lunch and Paco told me they will be taking over the space next door and adding more lamb items, including mixiote. Also said they'd be doing some game, like rabbit mixiote!

He told me, too, that their lamb is raised on pasture (for those who care about such things).

Has their outpost on University opened yet? I popped my head in a few weeks ago, but it was still mostly a raspados place.

Sounds great, did he give a date? BTW - the one thing that would take the dishes over the top, IMO, a cold beer!

I think the closest we are going to get is Tepache which they will likely be making as well.

Tepache and mixote de conejo? I am so there :-)

Any clue how he's going to handle the tepache?

Do you mean regulation? I don't think there will be a problem Tejuino and Tepache I've seen being sold a lot of places in CA without problem,.

DD might be referring to needing a liquor licence and the difficulty in serving house made spirits.

No, it was my error. I read KRs post too quickly and read tepache as tejate. Tepache is pretty much fermented pineapple (and can also be used inplace of apple cider vinegar). Tejate is a drink made from cocoa flowers and masa among other things and is a specialty of Oaxaca.

Good thing I said might, the Tepache I've had was slightly alcoholic. Tejate sounds like something i need to try.
