We will be @ The Lucerne (W 79th near Amsterdam) for our last night in NYC. We have thought about Dovetail (Sunday Suppa) but are also interested in any great neighborhood places. We will have been in NYC 4 days prior for a week and include in our line-up there:
Perilla
Pearl Oyster Bar
Dell'Anima
Momofuko Ssam
The Little Owl

to give you an idea of our likes. We would like to not travel much on that last night.

I liked Dovetail a lot both times I went - once eating a la carte and once getting the tasting menu. The Sunday night deal looks to be a great bargain, I would definitely go for that.

Cesca and West Branch - both mentioned - are also good. I like Ouest a lot also (same owner as both of those). Cafe Luxemburg is very good as well. Lastly, Kefi for greek and Gus and Gabriel for awesome gastro pub food - both a price tier or two below Dovetail/the rest of those.

Enjoy!

Tom Valenti has not been involved with Cesca in well over a year. He owns both Ouest and West Branch.

The Sunday night supper at Dovetail is delightful with lots of innovative flavor combinations that really work. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and it is a terrific bargain. And the best corn bread anywhere! I think it would be a great last meal to round up your trip and then take a neightborhood stroll back to the Lucerne.

A lot of good suggestions already. I second Ouest (French) and West Branch, Ouest's more casual sibling, as well as Kefi (casual new Greek) and Dovetail. I haven't personally had great food experiences at Cesca or Cafe Luxemburg.

Compass (new American), Spiga (new Italian) and Telepan (new American) may also suit. They are good, but probably not as good as Ouest,, Kefi and Dovetail.

If you'd like something more casual, there's a Shake Shack location nearby for a pretty good burger and concrete (very thick milkshake).
