Wine with Canada Goose

I've got a wild Canada Goose for dinner tomorrow night and while I'm familiar with most game, this is one I've not yet had.

With farm-bred goose I would usually go with a Margaux or a lightish Chateauneuf du Pape, but any advice on pairings with this bird would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

Thanks folks - Went with a '98 Beaucastel in the end, decanted for about 5 hours before hand.

Good match flavour-wise, though possibly still a little robust to stand together with the goose.

Wines from Provence, which include the Southern Rhone and Bandol, always seem to go well with game.

        Yes to Côte-Rôtie/Hermitage and Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Well-aged, top-drawer Bandol is also a delight.

Your CndP will be great. Otherwise an Oregon Pinot if you like those.

I'd reach for a northern Rhone. Hermitage or Cote Rotie.
