Cafe ZeZe dress code, please
My LA teen daughter and I will be eating w/my aunt at Cafe ZeZe on a Tuesday night next month. Can we get by w/dressy jeans, boots, a nice jacket or would something snazzier be more appropriate? We're on a 3-state college tour w/carry-on luggage so am trying to pack wisely. Thanks so much.
I've never even heard of Cafe Zeze, I had to look it up but to answer your question you will be fine with your dress choice. How did you hear of this restaurant? There is almost zero information about it online.

Thanks for your research. My aunt lives around the corner and adores Perigord and this restaurant is across the street so she noticed it and has been several times and likes it. I sense she thinks it'll be more to our California tastes w/seasonal menus, more unusual food pairings, etc. It's owned by the same people who have a lovely florist/gift shop around the corner which I've been to and is quite fabulous. A bit less snobby than Bloom.
I've seen Cafe ZeZe as we've left Perigord after dinner and it looks lovely. I think it has a brick interior and so the lighting is cozy and welcoming. The reviews of ZeZe have been good and I'm excited to try.

You can wear the dressy jeans and boots. It is a very low key place and no one dresses up much. Excellent for breakfast, too.
The name is actually Ze Cafe, named after ZeZe, who is one of the city's most celebrated florists.

Thanks for that info and of course you're right about the restaurant name. I was confused w/the florist. Looking forward to trying this new place.
Is the space where the old Mayfair Restaurant on 1st and maybe 53rd used to be (many moons ago) still vacant? Every time I come to NYC I look to see if anything has gone in there. That's expensive real estate to have sat empty for so long.

The Mayfair space is STILL empty! SE corner of First and 53rd. Rumor has it that there is some kind of messy altercation between family members who own the building. And you might remember the Metropolitan across the street. That closed, building was torn down, development plans were cancelled, and there is now a large empty lot on the site.
