Deal on a kitchen island in LA?
I recently moved to a new apt downtown, and while the kitchen is well-equipped, we're i dire need of more counter-space.
Any suggestions on where to find a good, affordable, quality kitchen island?
(especially ones featuring a butcher block top)
Thanks for your help!

Have you tried IKEA or Target?

Depends on your definition of quality, but for affordable, IKEA is by far the best choice.

Do you mean an actual built-in island made of a carcass, drawers and cabinet doors; those carts with the butcher block tops; or? Since you mention you're in an apartment, I'm guessing you're renting so a permanent island seems inappropriate. Here's something from IKEA that might work if you have the space for it.

Charlie's Fixtures... awesome restaurant supply store that will have professional grade portable islands amongst everything else you'll want/need for your new apartment. And its not too far from Downtown.

I second Charlie's Fixtures. I've purchased a couple of stainless steel work tables there. Charlie's delivers and has reasonable prices. (I've also purchased from Metro though a broker, but that's a more expensive option.)

Thanks all! Was looking for an option besides Ikea, which of course was my first thought. Didnt think of restaurant supply stores, I'll look into those.
