MSP Hounds,

I am looking for a dessert place to go in St. Paul on Saturday after seeing a play that ends probably around 9. I learned that Bravo Cafe Bakery will be open until 10. Cafe Latte will be open until midnight. I would consider going to Ngon Bistro for their dessert, and they close at 10. Ice cream places will not work because we want to sit down and talk. Any recommendations? Thank you.

Meritage is probably open pretty late on a Saturday (I know for a while their website talked about coming for appetizers and entree before a show, then returning for dessert after a show). I have enjoyed the cheese and desserts I have had there so that might be one place to look into a bit more. I also personally have a soft spot for Cafe Latte. I really like a lot of their fruit tarts and also very much like the key lime cheesecake (if they have it).

I, too, have a soft spot for Cafe Latte for a late night dessert spot. Another option is Coffee News Cafe, on Grand right next to the Macalester campus. I believe they are open till 11. It's definitely more of a coffeeshop vibe, but they have some spectacularly tall cakes (I've had the carrot and it is good) and some other desserts available.

The wine bar at Heartland is open until 10:30 pm. Not sure if that gives you enough time. If it does, it would be a great choice. Very relaxing and great desserts.

They can run out of some things at the end of the night so you would have to be open to that. But I'm sure they would still have some choices then.
