Read about Mi Pueblo, but don't think I'll make it out to the Oakland area.

There's Mi Tierra on San Pablo Ave near University. There's also another Mexican grocery store a 1/2 away on the same side of the street but I forget the name that also has a meat counter.

Thanks, forgot about that place. Have you tried any marinated meats from there? Just looking for something to have for the CAL-USC game next week.

Is the other place north or south?

Last backyard BBQ we had we liked the marinade and the cut of the carne asada from Mi Ranchito (the one a half block north of Mi Tierra) better than Mi Tierra. Either way the La Finca chips they both sell have become one of my new addictions.

I'm with you on the La Finca chips - very good!

That's the place, Mi Ranchito. I haven't been to either in a while. I can't even remember which store but remember the skirt steak to be good but not memorable. (better to use charcoal). I'd go with ...tm...'s rec. BTW, I'll be at the game. Go Bears.

Here are some additional suggestions. To paraphrase "Deep Throat" in All the President's Men follow the chorizo.

Additional add-on based on marinated chicken wings and the occasional tejuino truck.
