Cheap eats for out of town tourist

Coming to SF for the first time. What are cheap must eats downtown? Are there any farmer markets like LA that have great finds?

      Saigon Sandwich and Tu Lan (which I might get in trouble for for saying this on this board).

      If you don't like Chinese though, Tu Lan could be slightly inaccessible, despite the many differences between Chinese and Vietnamese cuisine, there are still a few parallels.
