Speaking of chinese restaurants in Katy, I saw that Tay Do Express has closed. Sad that they only lasted a couple months.
Thai Spice/Thai Express/Khun Noi (or whatever it's callled now) was the only Thai restaurant in Katy for a while, and they're OK in a pinch. Not that they are bad, just that they've changed ownership so many times, so it's hard to get a true grasp on their food. By my count, it's been 3 or 4x over the past 5 years, and the experience has been different every time.
Last weekend I saw a Thai Spice Gourmet on Westheimer Pkwy. I haven't tried this particular one but I have been to other locations, including their previous establishment where Khun Noi is presently located. The chain as a whole is as bad as Nit Noi. Stay away.
Overall I suggest driving to V's since everything is executed far better, food is more authentic and the quality is consistent. The dishes have also improved since Robb Walsh's review and I'm happy to report they just celebrated being open for 3 years last weekend. Also suggest going to their friday night buffet if you want to sample a variety of dishes.

Thanks for that response. I was beginning to wonder whether or not there were any Thai restaurants out here at all. I'll give the ones you mention a try and will head to town when I've got more time.
Seems like there's a lot of growth out this way, so maybe something new will pop up before too long.

re: Jaymes
Looking forward to hearing back, especially about Khun Noi. When I drove past them, the sign mentioned a dish that was featured in the Chronicle, so maybe these owners know what they're doing.
IMO growth has been focused on Korean and Vietnamese. One of those pho joints ought to be pretty good, and maybe some Korean soup/bbq will pop up too.

re: air
Updating to say that we've been to Khun Noi many times since I posted this. It's very good, and on our list of "regulars."
We are also regulars at Pho Saigon. We think it's great. We go to both Pho Saigon and Khun Noi at least once or twice a month. Would like to see more folks patronize them. They're trying pretty hard to put out decent food in Katy, the land of chains, and it's pretty difficult for them. Sucks to see so few cars in their parking lot, while Chili's is packed.
