Special Occasion Dinner - South Shore, Nassau County
Hi -
I'm heading out to Long Island tonight to take my parents to dinner to celebrate my Dad's retirement. The thing is, they generally stick to a small local group of restaurants. They are both adventurous enough eaters (even though it doesn't come through in their go-to restaurants), they just don't like to travel very far from their home in Oceanside. Their favorites are:
La Parma - Oceanside Italian
Sushi Ya - Rockville Cente Sushi
Villa Formia - Oceanside Pizza/Italian
The Fishery - East Rockaway Seafood
Few seafood places on the Nautical Mile in Freeport
A Greek place in Oceanside, can't remember the name
La Rioja - Island Park Spanish
I'm looking for recommendations of places in the general area (but can be a little further than they normally venture) and slightly more upscale than their normal haunts. Any cuisine except a steakhouse. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

In case anyone else has a similar question, we landed up at brasserie persil, which is in oceanside. It was actually exactly what I was looking for. A little busy/noisy/crowded, but we enjoyed the food. We had the Mussels Provencale to start. The mussels were OK, but the broth was delicious. And my main course, Fricassee of Monk Fish and Shrimp, was fantastic.
