I think this restaurant deserves its own thread apart from the old Moustache thread :)

We had lunch here the other day for the first time since the re-opening. I think the prices are reasonable and to food was very good, as good or even better than it was when it was Moustache. The guy running the place was also very nice. The place was about 2/3 full on a weekday for lunch.

The tabbouleh was fresh and flavorful. The grape leaves were freshly made, warm and served with tahini sauce. I had the babaganoush wrap on a pita with lettuce, tomato and cucumber. I had heard good things about their babaganoush and yes, it was delicious. DH had a "pitza" topped with tomato sauce, hot and sweet peppers, and Egyptian sausage. It was flavorful and spicy.

We'll definitely be back!

Sadiefox, I couldn't agree more that this place deserves its own thread. For the sake of other readers, however, I'm providing a link to a previous discussion about Marhaba. I am a great fan of Middle Eastern food so I'm very pleased that this cuisine continues to be available in Lambertville.

So you say the stuffed grape leaves WERE warm? I had them at the old "Mous" and they were STONE cold. I like them warmed up. Why do so many places serve them COLD. Most places do and I never go back. It's like eating - GOBBY cold rice!

I like my stuffed grape leaves warmed. NOT COLD!!!

Can someone compare the food at Marhaba with the food at Ibby's Falafel in Freehold? I am looking for a quality comparison, not a style comparison because I understand the menu at both places. I'm just trying to figure out if I should drive to Freehold or Lambertville the next time I'm looking for some falafel, shawarma, etc.

I did the comparison myself. We had lunch at Marhaba and had some baba ghannouj, hummus, tabbouleh, and a falafel sandwich. The hummus was good, though it could have used a bit less olive oil drizzled on top. The baba ghannouj was very good and easily better than Ibby's. The tabbouleh was fine, though nothing terribly inspiring. The falafel sandwich was OK, but it needed more tahini sauce. The freshly baked pita was excellent. In all, the food was probably better than Ibby's, but it also costs more than Ibby's, so the comparison might not be perfectly fair.

The service at Marhaba, though, was lousy. They had one waitress working all the tables (there were 12-14 people eating, across five tables). One waitress could probably handle that, but this one did not really know what she was doing. She forgot what our drinks were, she failed to bring over tahini sauce for the sandwich, and she forgot to brign the bill when we asked. She was perfectly nice, but just not terribly competent. I think the guys in the kitchen need to step in and help her a little bit because they had the time to deliver a dish or give someone their take-out order.

Bad service is trumped by good food, so we'll go back.
