We're going to be on Oahu and the Big Island in the next few weeks, and my darling husband really really wants to go to a luau. No amount of rolled eyes on my part will dissuade him. I can't imagine that any of the commercial luaus will be good (non commercial, non tinsel), but I'd love to be proven wrong. What I'd REALLY like is to find a local church or school who's doing a luau as a fundraiser. Anyone living on these islands who can point me in the right direction?

Thanks much!

When you arrive, pick up a copy of the Honolulu Advisor and look in the classified ads. Find some church, or neighborhood lu`aus. Call any number, and inquire.

Go to Foodland, and scan the bulletin board for notices of the same. Call the number.

Good luck, and much aloha,
