Does anyone in L.A. sell Ugli Fruit?

As far as I know, it's only (or primarily) grown in Jamaica, but I was able to find it at groceries and Whole Foods along the East Coast and as far West as Chicago - the westernmost I lived before moving to CA. And now it's been years and years since I've had one because I can't find any out here... =.(

Anyone know of a source? They should be coming into season in the next couple of months.

  1. call coley's jamaican (one in the valley, two near leimert park - maybe one on the west side) and ask them for a rec on a caribbean grocery store.
ugli is a result of a cross between a mandarin and a grapefruit (from what i can find). tangelos, i.e. mineolas, will be different but they are a result of a similar hybridization.

I didn't even think of asking Coley's! They're practically across the street from me! Thx for the suggestion-

    2. Two other possibilities:

      Right Choice Caribbean Market
      4233 Crenshaw Blvd
      Los Angeles, CA 90008
      Main: (323) 292-8921

And El Camaguey Market on Venice Blvd. in Culver City

I didn't know Coley's was in No Ho. I don't work there any longer so I haven't been there in a while.
