So before I call for a reservation next week, is it confirmed?

2009/2010 monte cristo = downhill alert?

I just had one at Cafe Orleans on Tuesday. It is a grease bomb but I still love it (it was fat Tuesday after all). My advice is to split it with someone and get a side order of the garlic parmesan fries.

We ended up at the Cove Bar in DCA.

I think I can forgo my desire for a DL Monte Cristo and just eat at the Cove Bar regularly.

I loved the Monte Cristo at the New Orleans Cafe. We are going to "Disneyland in a few weeks, I'll have to check out the Cove Bar! :)

plus the other good thing about getting the MC at Cafe Orleans as opposed to Blue Bayou is that it is about $5 cheaper (although doesn't come with salad or veggie) and they don't charge a split charge. Blue Bayou charges $12 to split a $22 sandwich!!!!

I remember being infatuated with the Monte Cristo Sandwich at Disneyland in my early years – first, Pirates of the Caribbean, then an MC sandwich for lunch at Blue Bayou. A recent, non-Chowhound discussion about them has encouraged me to leave it at that – a memory.

Alas, the same goes for the Main Street corn dog.

I think that even the Pirates of the Caribbean ride will be a memory as well-Johnny Depp added, sound track changes and the fat lady not chasing the pirate.

Also, so sad about the corn dog changes!!

Both the Blue Bayou and Cafe New Orleans have gone down hill for the past several years. Monte Cristo was not like it used to be. Went this pas December. Better off going to Downtown Disney and having lunch or dinner, unless you snack your way thru Disneyland...waffle cone ice cream, turkey leg, churros. etc.....

Delicious? I don't agree. Went to Blue Bayou 12/29/09 and ordered Monte Cristo sanwich. One of the worst things I have ever attempted to eat........greasy, more bread and batter than anything else, totally unedible. I can usually eat anything, but not this (I could not even get half way through). Let this be a warning to those who have not tried this sandwich...don't.

But that's what a Monte Crisco is! ;-) Can anyone point to an edible version in Southern California?

Actually, Art's Delicatessent in Studio City does a credible job cooking a Monte Cristo sandwich.

...and it even comes with a cup of fresh fruit so it's a healthy option! ;-D>

The fast-food place is called the French Market and it does not sell Monte Cristo sandwiches.

The Monte Cristo is served at Cafe Orleans, which is a sitdown restaurant. It is the same Monte Cristo sandwich. I believe it is sold all day. Call 714-781-DINE for reservations and they should be able to tell you.

Yes it is the same sandwich and it's at a lower cost.

And yes, it's sold all day. And the last time we were there, they actually had two different versions.
