Fig and Port Jam
Hi all,
Now that I've found my figs, I'm toying with the idea of making a fig jam with port. I was wondering if any of you have ever tried to make one or even sampled one. I know that many fig jams are made with cognac, but the idea of port appeals to me.
Any thoughts?

You might ask on the Homecooking Board for a better batch of responses or see if you can find: The Girl & the Fig Cookbook by Sondra Bernstein. Just noticed your post got moved to the HC board while I was answering the same.

Port is SO sweet...what if you made a fig and onion jam with port, to cut the sweetness a little?

I just took Reserve Champion at our county fair with my dried fig and port jam ( http://www.chow.com/profile/160677/ph... ). I keep figs and a vanilla bean soaked in port in my cupboard and decided to try it as a jam. It turned out great!
